I was just wondering if anyone had any input on a good place to buy some RAM upgrades, and what, if any pitfalls I might have to look out for when buying RAM.

P.S. - Looking for 2x512 or 2x1gig. Thanks!

I always go to http://www.crucial.com first. After that you can try alternatives like http://www.newegg.com

Hi, I bought two of these back in April and they work great. They are also a lot cheaper than when I bought them. I haven't had one issue. They also have super reviews from other users on neweggs website.

Avoid Crucial like the plague...they're generally over-priced and engage in some pretty shady pricing practices.

OWC and DMS have been trusted by MacRumors members for years...great companies that truly stand behind their products. Lots of people have also been having success with some of the budget RAM from NewEgg.

I got 2x1GB G.Skill from newegg for ~$150, no problems yet.

I have the exact same stick of RAM in my iMac. It runs perfectly.

I have purchased Crucial in the past with no hardware issues, nor any pricing issues when you do a apples to apples comparison. Out of all the places that have bend over prices I would watch out for Apple.

Have you seen this thread? Their latest game is that it gives you different prices for the exact same RAM depending on what machine you tell the "memory advisor" you have. The other game they play is giving you different prices for the same RAM depending on what browser you're using and what else you've looked at on their site.

I used to buy from Crucial...never again. I've had nothing but great experiences with OWC and DMS, so I always buy from them.
