Hi,

I have the intel iMac and it has a Pioneer SuperDrive, but can't find any info on Apple's website that tells you what speeds it writes/reads various media.. on this page it only says:

Optical drive Slot-loading 8x SuperDrive with 2.4x Dual Layer burn (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

I'd recommend opening System Profiler on your iMac (apple menu>About this Mac>More Info) and looking at the ATA section. That will tell you what model of Pioneer Superdrive you have. Then do a google on that model of drive.

Ahh.. thanks for the tip..

If it's of any interest, here are the specs for PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K05

Read Speed 24x (CD), 8x (DVD)

Write Speed 24x (CD), 8x (DVD+R), 8x (DVD-R), 4x (DVD+R DL)

ReWrite Speed 24x (CD-RW), 8x (DVD+RW), 6x (DVD-RW)

Bit crappy for CD write speed - would of expected 48X standard or at least 32X!!

Specs taken from here

Nice that you have a Pioneer in yours, in the 20" Intel iMac I have it's the Matshita DVD-R and I'd rather have the Pioneer :)

yeah, i'd have the pioneer anyday too.. there's something about the mid 4 letters in your drive that scares me :D lol
but the specs on yours are a bit better for cd-r's anyway..
