I downloaded Temperature Monitor and it's telling me the temerature is 118.4 F/48.0 C and 120.2 F/49.0 C. That seems high to me, but is it normal? Just want to put my worries to rest here because I was thinking that it felt hotter than it used to -- only on the left side though.

Psh those temps are nothing. My iBook gets up to past those temperatures and then my hand starts to feel like it's approaching first degree burn. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

temp.

My 17" intel iMac tells me my temp. is at 0 degrees for any app I use, this never happened on my G5 iMac or G4 iBook? is something wrong or am I just not doing something right?

My Intel iMac hardly ever gets above 41C. It reached 48C briefly yesterday when I was doing something that involved a lot of CDROM and HDD access, but it came down quickly after I stopped. Generally it stays pretty cool.

Yes.

Thanks... fan noise is such a distraction.

I had a Dell space heater/jet engine under my desk for four years - seriously, the fan was on 100% of the time. I was a PC user since the IBM XT days, and I didn't know any better. I didn't know computers could be this quiet.

Now, when I have my Dell Pentium-M 2.26GHz laptop (I originally thought it was quiet) sitting beside the iMac, it's a huge distraction when it's fan kicks in, about 1/3 of the time it's on.

I use Temperature Monitor with my Intel (like I said in my first post) but I've noticed it only reads my hard drive temp, and the temp never goes past 120.2F/49C it seems -- that's good right? I should have said it was my HD temp in my first post because I don't know if that makes a difference or not.
