Well, the choice is coming up...much as I desire a 17" Macbook Pro, the fact is that over in the UK, it's far, far too expensive for me.

So, the next process would be to hang on to my iBook, which does everything I need perfectly acceptably, including Photoshop etc (yes, a little bit slow at times, but more than useable).

But, for the work I'm starting to do now, I need a machine with a bigger screen and higher resolutions.

Obviously, the iMac is my preferred choice!

The question is this, would running Photoshop CS2 (and the rest of the software in the suite) run as well (hopefully better!) as on my iBook G4 at the moment? If they do - which I suspect - then I have no reservations about buying an Intel iMac now.

However, if it's going to be slower, I could very easily save some money, and get a 20" G5 iMac instead...Price-wise alone, I'm rather tempted to, but as regards future-proofing that goes out the window.

If anyone could just give me the thumbs up (or down) that would be great, and then I'd at least be a step closer to the eventual sale...

Cheers, Joe.

Thumbs up from me.

Have used Creative Suite 1 (and MS Office) on a friend's 17" Intel iMac and it's zippier than on one of my colleagues' G4 iBooks by far.

But do put at least 1gb of RAM in it.

I'd definitely up the RAM a fair bit. Upped the RAM on my iBook to 768MB (the max my machine can take) and I'm fairly sure that makes all the difference.

Lovely...Well, that'll be an intel machine for me then...

Starts searching for things to sell off to fund the thing...
