Just wondering...if Apple intends to update the 27" Intel iMacs for at least one more refreshed CPU generation, would it be Alder Lake?

If so, given that Alder Lake is more powerful than even M1 Max, wouldn't that put Apple in an awkward position?

Apple is not going to update/refresh the 27" Intel iMacs. Right now the 2020 27" iMac is the last Intel iMac that is still available for sale.

As soon as the M1X 27" iMac is announced, the Intel model will no longer be available.

I doubt Apple is going to have only the 27" iMac Pro and not have a regular 27" iMac. And if they're not going to have a regular 27" iMac with the M1 chip, then they would likely just refresh the current 27" Intel iMac.

I can’t imagine Apple will continue buying intel CPUs and AMD GPUs for their iMac computers when they can buy Apple Mx series CPU/GPU SOCs instead.

Wishful thinking. As far as we know and from what has already been reported by MR, there isn't going to be a refresh of the 27" Intel iMac.

Refreshes are usually silent updates, so you're right, there wouldn't be any reports of a refresh.

I don't see a point why Apple would go with 27" Intel updates? Especially when Apple goes on full battle with Intel with M1 transition? The point is getting less and less Intel Macs, and more Apple Silicon in the whole lineup.

I'd expect a new 27" will go with M1 Pro chips, or upcoming M2.
