Hi can anyone suggest a good HD as a replacement to go into a Intel Mac mini..?? 300Gb ish..

I like the Hitachi 320GB 5400 or 7200rpm 2.5" drives but Seagate or WD are fine as well. Just check http://newegg.com or http://zipzoomfly.com, both have good deals on laptop drives.

I was about to put a WD 320GB SATAII 5400rpm Scorpio Blue into my refurb'd 2.0Ghz mini which I'm going to be using as a HTPC, but then after much deliberation decided that 320GB just wasn't enough and ordered the 500GB version of the same model, either way I'm happy that WD is the way to go.

I went with the Seagate for my new mac mini (not arrived yet) as it was a bit faster than the Hitachi... and not being a portable I don't care about power drain.

That said (at least in the UK) the Hitachi is a touch cheaper.

I'm thinking about picking up a Mac mini to use as an HTPC. Can the mini handle a 500gb internal drive? I see most people only go with the 320gb so I was curious about it's ability to handle the larger drives.

If you can find a 2.5" 500GB drive then it will work.
