I almost want to buy one myself but, I have the intel imac and I'm awaiting the ibook intel ;)

seems like it has to be a scam, but he only takes credit cards and paypal, which are very secure methods (relatively speaking) for the buyer, and much more likely to be traceable if this is a rip-off. Definitely doesn't look like the classic ebay scam... but how on earth could he have 5 of each to sell at a discount??

if it's a scam; note that he says shipping is in 2 to 5 days AFTER payment has posted to his Paypal account....so he could stall the buyer for a bit, withdraw the cash....then it's money in his pocket and he's gone never to be heard of again

if he can sell 10 of them at $745 that's $7,450......if he has some fake ID it would be easy to pull off a scam this way

Even if the buyers get their money back from Paypal, somebody would get scammed... the bank? paypal?

Well, they have good feedback.

I suppose it's possible they procured several of the units at retailer prices?

Honestly you can buy these things much cheaper in China. I plan on selling apple products myself once I find sources. You can get them cheaper then an apple reseller can (factory direct). Shipping is what kills you tho.

Good Luck with that.

The seller hs sold mostly used PC's before, all of a sudden they have new Macs. The two Mac purchasers in feedback say there were shipping problems, but they did get their machines. These could be shill posts, possibly.

But come on -- they are advertising machines at a discount that authorized dealers don't have yet. Expect the goods will take weeks to arrive, if at all. They are not an authorized Apple dealer, so warranty is a question. Worst case is that they never ship. Second worst case is that they are selling stolen machines.

You will find that PayPal gives you next to no protection if the seller does not have a verified address or does not 'qualify' for buyer protection. If the seller empties their accoun t, PayPal will simply telll you you should have dealt with someone who qualified, and there is no money thay PayPal can recover for you.

If you're reading that and thinking "does this mean that PayPal only provides protection from sellers who you don't need protection from?" Then you're right. Read the fine print.

Nice joke. You forgot the smiley.

If it's not a joke, it's utter BS. The only supplier for Apple is Apple. If you think you can get Apple goods 'factory direct' then you'll be getting counterfeit or stolen goods. Or you are exceptionally gullible.

PS: You may want to amend the thread title so it doesn't look so much like a blatant advert. and we won't think you're shilling for the eBay guy yourself.

Find you some contacts in China and you will see Factory workers sell Apple products. Make a few posts on some China boards or on other apple boards and someone will show you they buy apple products in china

Just asked the seller a question and got a reply. Speedy gonzales.
Still not sure, i got caught with an ebay scam before, though with paypal you are at least getting security... probably wont risk it myself though,

boils down to either a $49 saving or a $749 gamble ::eek:

Notice they are offering a ebay credit installment plan? Is that safer?

I bought my Apple Powerbook from a guy in China I met on a board. Okay, it's not a Powerbook, it's a "Super A-OK Mac Happy Book of Good Fortune", but its basically the same thing. And it's not an Apple I guess - it's actually "Another Fine Product of the Five-Thousand Year-Old Most Honorable House of Tang", which is why I have TangCare instead of AppleCare. But other than that, its exactly the same. And it runs System 7 and HyperCard just fine. :D
