Cool cool. Unfortunately the only problem I have with my iMac (the sleeping issue) hasn't been linked to software. I really don't feel like sending my computer back. I've just decided to never sleep it again. ; )
Having had all 3 of my new iMac's with this problem, I finally think I have it "resolved"! At least on the latest one
(20', 128 vram, 1165 build, 2 gig)
Set it to sleep after 2 hours, hard drive to sleep whenever possible, display to sleep after 1 hour and screensaver to kick in after 15 minutes. Have unchecked the box for dimming before going to "sleep".
Played around with these settings for weeks - running 3 days now on this setting and :
mouse wakes machine up - yeah!!!!
Keyboard functions normally - woo hoo
do not lose network connections - can we say Hallelujah!!!!
fire wire drive can stay connected and does not cause me to reboot system - or move to USB
Please note I had zeroed out and re installed all software PRIOR to playing with settings. ALso have network robustness turned on and have the mighty (worthless)mouse plugged into the keyboard. This is the same keyboard/mouse that would freeze up if you looked at it wrong.
So knocking on whatever wood is around - I am finally THRILLED/HAPPY with my iMac! A few remaining issues - but certainly not a biggee in the scheme of things.
