As others have posted before, newer Intel MacBook Pros suffer from lag while typing if not plugged in and using the integrated graphics card.

Has anyone noticed or tested if this goes away with the Monterey update?

Have you rebooted?

I have not seen this as a general problem. However, I have noticed the computer gets slower and slower the longer it has been since a reboot. After 4-8 hours (based on the spin reports that are piling up :D) apps start responding slowly to HID events. And the mac starts creating spin reports with the reason "Slow response to HID event". I currently have 61 spin reports since installing beta 4.

I haven't submitted feedback yet, because I think the spin reports are automatically sent to apple, but I think I will anyway.

I didn't try to install the beta yet. I have gone as far as reinstalling MacOS after wiping the SSD and only installing Sublime Text (absolutely nothing else like chrome, etc...) and I get an occasional but extremely annoying typing lag if I am on battery and the integrated gpu is used. Apparently this is very common with the latest 16" MacBookPro. I was hoping they updated the drivers to fix this in Monterey.

This issue happened before quite often on the Intel GPU. The 16" had this already on Catalina and also Big Sur.
You can try to set the GPU to dedicated and see whether it goes away.

AFAIK this is mostly due to Apple's aggressive frequency down-scaling on the iGPU which then doesn't scale up fast enough when you need it and then causes lags.
The issue is even worse when you run virtual machines and use the iGPU. But everything works more or less fine on the AMD GPU.

Yup I had this issue on my MBP Pro 16 last year and no amount of formatting, resetting NVRAM and SMC would fix it. I then got so sick and tired of it I sold it as I type all day long and the lag was just driving me nuts

What do you need to type quickly for !? :( You have an extra 3% battery life. :mad:o_O:apple:
