Intel Macintosh Temperature database

I was looking around th internet trying to find a temperature bench mark and found the Intel Temperature database. I was looking for temps for my Mac Pro, but decided to post it here as the databases most popular machine is a MacBook. Sadly I did not find what I was looking for, which was RAM temps. But it does include Ambient temps, CPU idle, CPU full and HD. It has users post their temps, its really cool you can see what it should be and what others are getting. It also gives you how many HDs, RAM they have, the OS and the REV.

This is just the coolest thing I have seen all day and thought I should share.

Is it really necessary?

Next time we will be seeing people comparing the serial numbers on their processors and how high they can overclock it. Macs are Macs, if heat gives you problems then send it back in for servicing. Even if you find that yours runs hot, what are you going to do about it?

You can't possibly open it up and void your warranty, so might as well sleep tight at night instead. After all you paid a premium pricing for that peace of mind.

As long as my machine operates well, who cares what temperature other peoples' cores are running at. In fact, who cares anyyway. Let Apple deal with any problems. They do a pretty good job of that...eventually.

The first part of the serial number is like a batch number. Like with the battery recall. It means they were manufactured in the same place and around the same time. It can be useful for tracking treads, say if a batch of macbooks coming out of the China plant in Dec. '06 were running hotter it could give insight on what a problem might be. IE a problem with heat sinks installed at the time or what not.

There is also a lot of talk about programs to control fan speeds in the MB and MBPs. The database is great for calculating fans speeds.

Just thought it maybe useful to some people. It is to me. My fans are running really low, but my computer seems to be running hotter then most. Now knowng this if I needed to I could send it to Apple.

Thanks for the CPU temp stats... I always like seeing how my systems compare to all the others out there. It looks like my C2D CPU temp is below the average...
