Intel Macs, about 8 months later

So they MacBook Pros and iMacs Intel are in people houses(iMacs have been for a long time), and now the Mac Mini came out, and we thought about it, flip over the graphics and now after a calm review came to a thought out conclusion on the intel Mac Mini. So now with 75% of Apples top selling Macs, and about 60% of Apple whole Mac line up, what do we think about intel. When Jobs first send intel, many of use were ready to attack Apple. Surely intel could not be the right way to go! AMD, PPC or Cell would all be a better pick right!! Well how do we feel now?

I don't really care what's inside the box, could be a hamster on a wheel, so long as it works and works well... (and the little hammy runs like the clappers to speed up FCP rendering)

I have to say that I love mine. It is definitely the fastest mac that I have ever used, minus rosetta. (which is still not too bad) The most surprising thing is that it has been stable as a rock. I have only had it 3-4 weeks, but it has been absolutely perfect. I never sleep it and I have only rebooted for the 10.4.5 update. I am shocked, I really thought it would have some growing pains, but it has been a joy to use. My wife is constantly using handbrake and I switch over to my profile, while handbrake is converting, and it keeps chugging along...

Save some power, and maybe some wear n' tear ... sleep it, at least during the night. Set it to wake up just before you usually do.

I would set it to sleep in 3 hours, but I swear, my wife is constantly burning or converting videos. I just bought her a new minivan with DVD. (two kiddos) She is converting all of our old VHS tapes to DVD. But, I can hardly blame her, the kiddos are nice and quiet on trips now!

Audio story books converted to MP3 work for us on longer car trips... it prevents them getting car-sick watching TV, gives them a chance to look at the world outside as well as keep them both quiet (most of the time anyhow).

That is a good idea, mine are 2 and 3. I know my 3 year old would dig it, but my 2 year old boy would have a heart attack if he could not watch Curious George!!

... have you tried a Curious George audio book instead, if they're available?

Our eldest (nearly 4) usually demands 'The Lion King' and the 'Wind in the Willows' at least 4 times each during a 8-hour trip, even if she's reading a different book at the same time.

We will have to try that. I am just so happy that there is some peace and quiet in the car, I am almost afraid to change anything.
