I find it strange that there are still no Rev. B's in the U.S refurb store. In the past, when I've looked just out of interest, the U.S refurb store has always had things available there far sooner than over here, as well as having a far wider variety of Apple products to choose from. We've never(to my knowledge)for example had refurbished cinema displays.
Here in the U.K there have been refurb Rev. B Airs available since early February. Without having any clue as to how individual Macs are selling it's also difficult to clearly think about some of these issues.
I live in Manchester and have yet to see a single Air(A or B)in the wild. Unibody MacBooks, white Macbooks rarely and Black MacBooks quite regularly.
Popped in one of my two local Apple stores last night, the Trafford Centre. I have for a while felt that the Air is thought of as the runt of the litter, primarily because of how it's displayed in both of 'my' Apple stores. For a good while now there's only been one Air on display, always just inside the store entrance on the left-hand side. One might read that and think it to be a good position but it isn't. It's basically the Apple store equivalent of the 'corner' where the naughty child is told to go, and to be quiet and not disturb anyone.
Last night I was actually shocked at the condition of the Air. It was tatty looking, lots of uneven keys, loose display and the 'best' bit? It was turned off.
Okay somebody may have turned it off(I turned it back on), but is a scruffy-looking unit with a loose display the best that the store can do? Against this there were five white Macbooks, eight unibody MacBooks, two 17'ers and six 15'ers. What do you think? Reckon they sell many Airs?
Nope, me neither.
None of which surprises me as the manager at the Trafford Centre store is a complete ****.
I hope the Air continues to go from strength to strength. It certainly won't be helped any however if it's treated this way at Apple's own stores.
