this is great their might finally be hope for UMPC's after all only took 5-6 years to address the technical problems of the UMPC ie poor performance, low battery life, and high price. Now the dream of carrying a full computer in your pocket might be less of dream and more of a reality.

I don't know. The reference platform looks pretty good -- next generation speeds in many aspects and low power consumption in many usage profiles. And in the Netbook arena, Atom has a demonstrated track record of making good on battery life promises.....

The best news is that there won't be any x86-only or ARM-only software, Medfield is compatible with everything in Android MP.

Android libraries whose performance either isn't great on x86 or are incompatible have been tweaked, and the result is that all of the Android marketplace will work out of the box on Intel's smartphone platform

This means it has a lot potential.
