EDIT 4: Thank you all for the feedback, it really helps motivate me to do what I do (for free). If you could, please post that feedback at my MacUpdate Listing as to get other people interested in downloading the app. Thanks.

EDIT 2: Two people want it? Great! Here is the download (I'm making an icon now for the public release)

EDIT 3: Here is the public release

Last night I decided to relive old times and recreated "Ollie's iPod Extractor". This application copies the music and playlists from an iPod to their iTunes library. This thread is just for me to see if there is enough interest to release it.

I vote a Yes for interest. :)

Thank you, but I think my university doesn't keep a check on my bandwidth.

Ooo.. I hope I get me some of that when I get to UH. :)

And YAY! I don't have to have ANOTHER backup of iTunes. Huzzah!

So is this like iPod rip? If so, I'm all over this! Thanks!

Well yes and no. My application copies *every* file every time (exluding ones that are already in iTunes). iPodRip allows a complete copy or single file copies. My application is really for the legitimate use of restoring files after an iTunes library failure (although it will copy from any iPod).

Wow, this is really great. It's exactly what I need at the moment - to restore some playlists that I erased from iTunes but still have an my Pod. I do have to get a more advanced ripper at some point though. But for now this will do. Thanks a lot :)

At the moment this does not copy playlists, only songs. I am working on playlist recovery functionality however, and will probably release it as 4.5

Man, this is great! I've been looking for something this easy to use forever! ( I haven't looked around that much)

I have a suggestion for a new app. If you can make an app that does this:

and make it non-descructive to the ipod and relatively easily doable and reversable, you will have one of the most popular ipod download out there. This picture is a mockup that was posted on digg.com and made diggnation (top ten weekly stories), so I imagine if you made a working app to do it it would get dugg to the top and about 50,000 diggers who own ipods will see it and download it. If you do that i'll mirror it.

on other forums I've seen (and of course I have seen myself), the black nano looks kinda dumb with a glowing white screen. every reply on digg agreed it would look bad a$$.
http://digg.com/apple/Black_iPod_UI_

maybe even better than a white to black switcher, maybe a fully user customizable 'skinning' utility. i guess thats pushing it a bit.

i know i'd be willing to give $5 for a black UI for my nano
