I'm not going to even read further than this: "Should you be a stickler for signs astronomical, there are less than two weeks left in summer, which means two weeks for AT&T to deliver on its promise of a “late summer” arrival date for the iPhone’s Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS)."

THEY don't even know when summer ends, how can we be expected to take the author seriously?

Well thats if one assumes that AT&T will uphold its promise of "Later this summer".
I doubt it, but I've been wrong before. Lets just say I'm tired of being lied to and given the run around by companies that feel they don't have to provide the services they offer to others. Or even have them blame some other company for their failures.

But do you notice, that just before summer is over, AT&T starts saying that it can barely keep up with the data from the iphone, etc? Coincidence? I think not.
Maybe they're just greasing the wheels for more upcoming lawsuits and providing a weak defense.

Well, I can tell you that if the "late summer" deadline passes, they'd better give a better timeframe than something like "later this year", or worse, "early 2010".

The delay would have to be because of AT&T since there are many countries around the world (including Canada) where MMS on the iphone as worked since OS 3.0 was released.

After reading the New York times article today I have, for the first time, started to think about ditching AT&T, selling my iPhone and dealing with a less superior device on another network. I worked for the landline side of verizon and I thought back then that they were a company who blinsided and lied to customers, but this whole MMS debacle just makes them look terrible and incompetent.

interesting little article..

and no, it doesn't speculate to when MMS will or if it ever will be available.. it's more of an article on how Botched Up AT&T is..

Yeah they are "Botched UP" (don't know why it needs the caps, but OK) aren't they? I sure if you where in charge you could wave you magic wand and make all the network upgrades happen in seconds. I'm sure the medical industry has "Botched Up" as well they haven't found a cure for cancer yet either.

If they would have forecasted and planned, they wouldn't have to wave a "Magic Wand"...

And how do you go about trying to relate AT&T's network to Cancer?

These things take time but as whinny consumers they want what they want and they want it right now. They are not entitled to anything. They will get the service when they offer the service.

Hahahaha. I still can't believe the biggest network in the US doesn't support MMS. We've had it in the UK for years and years.. :D

The network supports MMS for every other device except the iPhone. Now we can move on to complaining how effed the network is due to huge iPhone MMS volume.
