Don't know if this has been discussed before, but i just noticed this, and frankly don't remember seeing previously.

On http://www.apple.com/iphone/technology/specs.html
1st sentence of fine print "Technical specifications are subject to change."

Makes you wonder if the specs listed and talked about are what we are really going to see / get with the real deal on the 29th.

i think thats a good chance, and a good chance the price drops alittle. think about it. they revealed this thing 6 months before launch. they needed a way to keep iPod sales strong before launch. so they say it has "only 4 and 8 gigs" and so people will think "oh the iPod has more memory than that so i'll still buy and iPod" and if the price was anywhere near a video iPod, do you think they would have sold that many iPods in those 6 months?

Don't get too excited about it, the FCC documents have already been made public, and I don't think anything had changed from what was announced.

Do you need a new FCC approval if you increase the size of the flash memory? (Im doubting that is the case, only new approvals for something that would actually change the way it communicates with wireless signals etc)

The FCC only cares about the transmission piece of things, they don't get involved with apps, memory size, etc... There's a lot of things that can change, the question is, will any new apps or software changes be included out of the box or require an immediate update? MMS could be added with a software update, no hardware changes required....

mms maybe
gps maybe
more memory maybe
but definitly no 3G...the FCC files only cleared EDGE

Hopeful, but I doubt it.

3G - Meh.. I don't stream onto 8525 currently, so it won't affect me.

More Memory - Not going to happen, Apple will not intentionally lie about the storage capacity of this device. Only thing I see is some sort of add-on, but that’s not going to happen.

SDK - This may be a possibility. Apple announced the Safari enabled, perhaps there are some extra goodies Apple will provide via Safari in the future. Safari on windows is the first window...

I'm not getting the iPhone because I think it has more usable features than my 8525. I'm getting the iPhone because what it can do is far better than my 8525, and I will actually enjoy using this device (hopefully).

Apple does not have to play the, guess what features this device has, game. What the iPhone does, it can do very well. This ideology has been the trademark of Apple. I'm sure V2 will be just as inspirational.

the black part at the bottom of the iphone is really bothering me. i like it and i think it looks good. but i keep asking myself whether it is removable (battery) or not, and i'm hoping it is

I really hope they add GPS. With GPS it could take the place of another gadget, those voice navigator thingys. (Dont know what they are called.) GPS would cinch the sale for me, without it Im still on the fence at this point.

Though Im sure once I have one in my hands I wont be able to resist.:D

I'm thinking that Apple will NOT add any new features to the iPhone that were explicitly denied in the training manual.

For example, you don't teach all of your employees that the iPhone doesn't have GPS or MMS, and then secretly add it later. I can see it now:
AT&T rep: Sorry, the iPhone doesn't come equipped with GPS
Customer: But look, it says GPS right on the box...
AT&T rep: What? That must be a typo.
...Now, as a customer, you have no idea what's going on.

Any features that were never mentioned in the training manual... maybe (although very unlikely).

i wish they would just tell us already, it's 2 weeks till launch, they should start spilling the beans

Why? Everyone is talking about it. It wouldn't surprise me, though it would frustrate me, in the least, given the release time, that all the final info isn't released until the 29th.

I don't think we'll see anything this week (it's thursday after all), perhaps next, though I think it would be ironic if the info came out on the 26th, the final tuesday in June.

But Richdom81,

With 3G on the 8525 (which I also have), you can send/receive data while using the phone. You can only do the same with the iPhone while connected to wi-fi in a hot spot. Do/would you find that feature useful on the 8525? :)

That is just a liability thing. If anything changed (better or worse) for any reason, then they can cover themselves.
