So I hooked up my Gmail account to my iPhone. Everything is great, wonderful.

However, I noticed a tiny little thing that sometimes comes up when the iPhone updates my Gmail account. Now, keep in mind this only happens when I am viewing the list of my Gmail emails, and it is very rare.

I really can't figure out a pattern for when it happens. But here we go:

Sometimes a short message will flash on the screen that reads "Loading xxxxxxxx messages, xxxxxxxxx unread".

This would not normally be strange, except for the fact that these numbers are usually in the billions (just over 2 billion, actually).

Could this be the total amount of emails on Google's servers? Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I have noticed the same thing with my .mac account and my Pop accounts on my own server. I think its a bug and the number does not really mean anything.
