I went into the Apple Store today. Very bussy at noon on a Wednesday.

First:
I was looking at the MBPs and was seeing how long some simple apps took to open. I checked the computers, they all had 1 or 1.5 gigs of RAM. I asked the guy if they had any display models that were identical to the lower-end 15 inch MBP, with 512MB RAM. He said no and at tha point I think he wanted to stop talking to me, he started to ask other people if they needed help.

Second:
I saw a desktop model and the sign behind it and the placard nest to it said PowerMac G5. I thought to myself, "Wow, they are still selling it." Then I noticed that it had two optical bays and checked it out, it was the new MacPro. Were they trying to hide it. I saw a guy talking to a customer about it and was reading off the placard about it. I was just shoked. They had a trud PowerMac G5 farther in the back of the store. If I came in and someone sold me one of those without telling about the new one I would be PISSED.

were there a lot of people in the store or something?

Why do stores have to tell you anything?

Your a consumer, you should be smart enough to do your own research before going to a store.

That's why women and men shop differently. Men walk into a store knowing what they want, women like to browse.

Yes Men like to go into stores to play with toys, that's a different story, but if anyone walked into an Apple store and purchased a G5 Power Mac than that's his or her perogative.

Who are you to know why anyone will buy a G5? Who are you to care?

Apple wants to get rid of the back stock, of course they're going to try and get rid of all the G5's they haven't sold yet.

Yeah it was fairly busy. But there were a lot of people working too.

No one has to tell me anything. If someone wants to buy a G5 that is fine, great amchine. But if I was new to the Mac and was sold sa product they are no longer making and wasn't told that I would be upset.

So do you randomly walk into a store and buy a $2000 computer without first looking it up on the internet?

I wouldn't but some people do.

Should you have to?

sales associates are responsible to inform consumer to the best of their ability.

last weekend i went to the apple store, asked the sales associate if they know when "new chip"s gonna come out, they told me intel is already out, and apple won't update their thing for another yr, i asked when 'core 2 duo' is coming out, they told me 'core 2' or 'core duo' is out, so i have to show them what 'core 2 duo' is before they said they dont know... but that i dont blame them, if they dont know, then that's fine...

but then nobody informed me about the printer deal, which really made me mad... i mean, they dont stand in the store for nothing, if i have specific question, i can find it anywhere.. but if there's something i didnt know (and i dont know that i didn't know), that's when i need them... so at then if they dont speak, they aren't performing their job.
