Alot of people think you have to pay to use iTunes.

I referred my cousin to iTunes, but he said "Don't you have to pay for that?"

Same thing with a friend of mine that just got a Powerbook. He didn't even open iTunes because he thought you had to pay for it.

Anyone else have these sort of stupid friends/relatives?

I have also a friend, that didn't even start iTunes, omg - these guys are really missing something *gg*

I know exactly what you mean, I was talking to my friend over AIM; I sugested he ues iTunes:

Me:use itunes
Me:its way beter than winamp
Him:no, f*** you
Him:you have to pay for that
Him:stupid american
Me:itunes is free, you don't need to purchase anything
Me:you dont need a credit card
Him:yah, what ever
Him:i dont trust anything made by apple
Me:fine!!!!
Me:go suck billies di*k now!!

This guy doesn't even have QuickTime installed on his computer. :rolleyes:
 
Well, if my 45 years old roommate asked me the other day how to open in his PC a Word document saved in a floppy disc... I believe very well the iTunes confusion.

Obviously for some people the world is something you should be affraid of all the time... but they have PCs! :confused:
 
I don't think it's anything to do with them owning PC's, it's more to do with them just being stupid! ..and no, you can't say those two things go hand in hand, well not until I get a Mac!

actually i thini it has a lot to do with the itunes music store and that whenever these people (mainly friends of mine who have an ipod) ask me a question and i tell them to d.l itunes they all say, no i have all my music from kazaa i dont wanna pay for it. i think because they see ipod commercials or the itunes music store commercial or ads and they thiunk that the itunes music store is essentially "itunes", and dont realise that itunes is just a music player and the iTMS is just a feature of that music player. any wase i got this with almost everysingle pc friend of mine, no joke.

one of them sais to me.

how do i get my music onto my ipod?

me: itunes.com

-yah but i dont want to pay for all the musi i have

Y'know, that's a point. The ads don't really distinguish between iTunes the jukebox software, and iTunes the music store. There's no message that iTunes can be used for free.

I remember my neighbor asking me the same "can I use iTunes for free?" question. She's now happily using my computer to rip, buy, mix, and burn. Of course, she'd also have a Mac if she could afford one, so no anti-Apple b.s. there. :)
 
I've had the same experience. People don't seem to get that iTunes has other features besides the music store. Plus, people don't seem to realize that using the program is free, it is the purchasing of music that cost money.

Especially when people, like Steve for example, even call the iTunes Music Store, "iTunes" occasionally. Just this past week, Alicia Keys was praising "iTunes" for the exclusive content it offers. :(

That's somewhat typical these days. Turn on the t.v. and you'll hear 1.9 financing or 1000 off instead of 1.9 percent financing and 1000 dollars off.

Most people don't take time to notice details. It makes me wonder how long it would take someone to notice if I dyed by hair blue. :D

Everytime I've seen some news bite on t.v. talking about the iTMS, they really don't mention that you can use your old music with it. I don't remember online articles denoting that either.

Yup, and I've also heard Uncle Steve refer to the iPod as an "mp3 player." Oops.

All depends what patch of hair on your body you are talking about, and if you are doing something odd like only dyeing one eyebrow blue.

You do get personal, don't you? :D You're the only one who's talked about my eyebrow. (Note that I no longer have a cold and can type "my" correctly instead of typing "by".)

Maybe, I could try one green and one red eyebrow for Christmas.
 
It gets worse.

I got a friend to download iTunes today, just to try it out.

I told her that if she wants to give up downloading music off of Limewire one day and go Legit, she can use the music store.

This is her reponse:

But I do download music legally.

I ask: With what?

I use Limewire Pro. I pay $25 a month for my music.

...my god that's a shame.
 
Wow, these are amazing!

I have a friend that's paranoid about Apple taking in info from your iTunes DB and checking for illegally downloaded music so that they can bust you. He didn't get it that Apple isn't in that business, but the RIAA is and don't even do it that way. Oh well. Oh, that same friend boasted that his *random player* could hold more songs that iPods. I gave it one look, and told him that he had the same size HD as my 40GB iPod. He didn't know what to say.
