Did a search but couldn't find someone with the same problem.

I have a SR MBP. The sound level is horrible... in OS X. I can turn it up all the way and it's barely audible in my office (IT Environment).

Now, if I boot in to Windows (Vista) I can turn the volume up about a third of the way and it's louder than OS X all the way up.

What gives? Is there a super secret volume level hidden somewhere in OS X?

BTW, problem is not applications individual volume control (happens system wide) and acts the same way with OS X 10.4 or 10.5.
