Interference noise over computer speakers

When I hook up my iphone I get a weird noise coming through my speakers. It's only on occasion, but a bit annoying. I have to move my dock as far away as possible to get it to not doo it as bad.
Anyone else getting this, or have a solution?
 
actually, that can also be attributed to the EDGE data network chitter chattering. i say this because my cingular blackjack (i have it constantly getting push email, and also updates other "home screen" elements via the net) did this constantly when i had it in EDGE mode for internet connectivity; however when i have it in 3G data mode, it NEVER gives me interference. i strongly believe that it is NOT BT (that stands for bluetooth btw), simply because when i have the blackjack connected to my car via bluetooth for handsfree speakerphone it never gives the static/interference noise unless it is in EDGE data mode. hope that helps.

it probably doesn't since you don't have any other cellular data choices other than EDGE (wifi excluded).

that is the ONLY thing that made me keep my blackjack (windows mobile -- yuck), and not get the iphone v1.0.

You must be new to at&t/tmobile. This is normal.. GSM phones cause interference through unshielded speakers. A buzzing/pulsing/clicking sound. I get it through my clock radio on my nightstand if I sleep with my phone nearby. This is not an iPhone bug. Don't worry.
 
It's not the Bluetooth - I've got it off, haven't used it yet.

The phone causes interference in my little boombox's speakers as well, should I set it on my bedroom dresser (where said boombox resides) at the right time.
 
As said above, it's completely normal GSM chatter. I'm sure we'll see a bunch of new "Made for iPhone" speaker sets on the market soon with adequate shielding to prevent this.

I stand corrected. I always thought it was the BT in my ATT phones. Thanks.
 
Yep, GSM. It happens with my Treo also. Annoying, especially during a meeting with the boss who likes to have his external computer speakers up REALLY loud.
 
Yup, for the fourth/fifth time it's GSM. When I had Verizon they worked on different technologies so it never made the buzzing noise.

Incredibly annoying when listening to it in the car thru FM.
 
It's not Bluetooth, and it's not EDGE in particular. It's GSM. Both AT&T and T-mobile phones will do this. Sprint and Verizon will not. One of the reasons I like CDMA over GSM.
 
I agree it's GSM but it is WAY worse than my last GSM phone. This thing must have a very powerful transmitter.
 
computer interference

I seem to get a strange interference with the display on my emac. i can hear it and see it on the screen. is this the same thing? it's only sporadic, but a little annoying. I also get an occasional noise from my car speakers.

if you're having this problem around your computer speakers like i am, try taking a piece of tin foil and folding into a 5" x 3" rectangle, then when youre at your desk put your iphone on top of it. it magically seems to make the buzzing disappear, or at least quiets it significantly. ive also heard that getting ferrite beads (radio shack) and wrapping them around your speaker cable will fix it too...if anyone decides to try that out let me know how it works

hi there when you use your i phone you will need to go to settings and select airplane mode and this should get rid of the noise you are talking about hope this helps Gazyo.

when you use your iphone to play music into any audio device you need to select settings then switch on airplane mode this should get rid of the noise you are hearing hope this helps gazyo.
 
iphone not recognised on itunes HELP???

just got unlocked iphone with jailbreak software but when i went to connect to itunes it does not recognise the iphone the phone has the latest 1.1.2 software and when i connected to the p.c. it installed a winzip file to desktop called jail break does any body know if i have to extract these files im really confused can any one help.
 
Buzzing all night

[I had heard that the iphone vs computer buzz would be helped by putting more distance between the two. Since my charger was on my computer desk, which is right next to my bed, I tried putting a longer usb cord between the two--a 10 foot cord. I still get the buzzing, now along with a more-crowded bedside table. Haven't tried the tinfoil idea--sounds like could be a winner. Thanks
 
Get a new 3G iphone

The noise is fixed on the 3G iphone because the 3G network doesn't use the same frequency as the EDGE network did, thus no problems with speaker interferance!

the GSM speaker interference

If it makes this noise through your computer speakers, imagine what it is doing when it is in your front pocket :eek:
 
Well, the 3G is as bad as any phone out there - it solved nothing.
The RedBull can, tinfoil solution did nothing. I made a double layered container with only the wire "visible" and it buzzes like hell
The ferrite beads are TOTALLY USELESS - Bought them at RadioShack and put them on all speakers - Buzzes like hell.

I'm amazed that someone - a real company (not some bootleg fix) hasn't solved this. What happened to "Necessity is the mother of invention"?

The only "fix" that works (doing it now) is sitting on the damn phone. The USB cable goes from the Mac to my chair - Great. Cutting edge technology (Mac/iPhone) and my crotch is the only thing that keeps it from buzzing. Nice work Apple. But hey, the box sure was pretty.
