MBP 15.4" Core Duo, 2Gb ram.
Every now and then my MBP display freezes and then gets progressively scrambled and fades out to grey. Backlight stays on. If I reboot it's ok again. A very intermittent problem which seems to occur at random. Last week it happened twice in one evening (while running Parallels and an external monitor). Today it happened while running iDVD, no external monitor.
Any ideas anyone?

Its not something you can fix really. Sounds like a logic board fault. To determine the fault, you could run AHT (inc on DVD's shipped with machine). Ultimately it will need a repair. Take it to an AASP.

Just done a full Apple hardware test and it reports no problems. The wierd thing is that, with an external monitor plugged in and used for the menu bar and dock, only the laptop screen freezes and I can still use the external monitor as if nothing has happened.
I suppose I ought to take it in before my warranty runs out, but its going to make work a bit tough without it for a fortnight. Oh well...
