I have the new X with the latest iOS. Intermittently, when starting up the phone with the side button, my locked screen is in landscape mode.

While I'm not totally sure, I believe this only happens if I put the phone to sleep with the side button AND the screen is in landscape mode. Annoying to say the least. Is there some option in Preferences to avoid this?

Does it rotate back on its own? Mine does that frequently after I unlock it. Landscape view for a second then it reorients itself to the correct view. This is on my 8 Plus and has been happening through several iOS 11 versions.

Mine only rotates back after unlocking IF the screen calls for Portrait mode. Yes, once live, I can go either way with apps that support Landscape/Portrait. So it's not the end of the world. However, in case I misplace my phone, my lock screen displays an alternate phone number that may or may not help in returning the phone.

Don't know what version of iOS changed this.
Orientation Lock should do it.

Yes, that does correct this problem, but then the phone is LOCKED in Portrait. So if i want to watch a youtube video, I then have to unlock Orientation. PITA
