I have an internal and an external hard drive. the external is partitioned into two. one day i noticed that the icon for the internal wasnt on my desktop. so i used spotlight to try and find it and drag it back or at least make an alias of it. doesnt find it. if i do some digging i can sometimes find it buried but it is gray and i cant click it. if i try and install something it immediatly finds it and say that i can install on the volume so i know it stll is working. can anybody think of what i might have done and possibly how to get it back.

thank you in advance
