How are you guys doing?

I have 2017 5k iMac and I switch between headphones and the internal speakers a lot but I always did this plugging in or unplugging the headphones.

Then I remembered you can simply switch the output device in the System Preferences for Sound.

Unfortunately when I have my headphones plugged in the imac the internal speakers are not listed so I cant select them. I have to unplug the headphones to make them show up.

I don't think this is how it's supposed to be.

Why do the Internal Speakers disappear when I plug in headphones?

Thanks in advance.

"Unfortunately when I have my headphones plugged in the imac the internal speakers are not listed so I cant select them. I have to unplug the headphones to make them show up."

That's how it's worked on every Mac I've ever owned.
When you have headphones plugged into the jack, the internal speakers shut off. I think there's some kind of hardware-based switch involved.

UNplug the headphones, and the speakers work again.

It's not a bug, it's a feature.
