Hi, Im going to get a second internal HDD to use as a time machine backup but wasnt sure which HDD would be best to get? Would one of the WD Caviar Green drives do a good, reliable job?

If you are going for 2TB drives, the WD Caviar Green drives are among the favorites. It's been reported they have some issues regarding the high load cycle counts due to the firmware...

I personally like the Samsung F4 drives. IME they are faster, low power and very quiet - and a bit less expensive.

But either way, you can't go wrong with any of them - or any major brand high capacity drive for that matter. You'll find opinions in every direction. All drives fail sooner or later, and all of them are subject to DOAs. All of them offer fairly good customer service, depending where you buy.

I actually only have a 1TB primary drive and I'm not even using half of it, so i was thinking of just getting a 1TB HDD.

The Samsung F4s seem to only come in 2TB? If so ill just go for WD, thanks guys
