You can't just take the price of something in the US, such as the iPads US$499 cost, and then find what that equals in your currency and expect it to cost the same. Wages are different, and so are living costs to counter-balance those wages.

I live in Japan, so I won't use EN as an example. However, in Australia the average wage is $30+/hour. You think that is the average hourly wage for someone in the US?

Seeing these types of topics all the time makes me question the western education system of today.

It's got nothing to do with each country's respective education system. Unfortunately most Westerners have developed an extreme sense of entitlement. This means that even though most understand that complexities of price differentials in different markets we pretend not to as it gives us the opportunity for a damn good moan. This moaning only get worse as the rest of the world increasingly knocks us off our privileged positions as the primary group of consumers and suppliers and manufacturers continue their trend towars further catering to other markets.

The only good thing is that with more and more people from other cultures getting onto the Internet this constant noise will be less noticeable in the coming years.

Not sure if the point of this post is to ask why there was no International Pricing, or to chastise "Western education." (Not that I disagree w/ the state of education today).

If it's the former, I inferred from the presentation that Apple has not even started negotiating with non-US 3G carriers yet, hence the extra delay in International sales. I think as Apple inks deals w/ carriers it will announce them in the affected country with pricing. In other words Apple didn't announce Int'l prices yesterday b/c it doesn't have any firm numbers yet.
