Hello,

My father has a problem with his iPhone 6S Plus with iOS 15. He received a text message from his cell phone carrier that he has to pay 0.8 EUR (he lives in Europe) extra because international SMSs have been sent from his phone. He did not send any messages and has no unknown messages in his sent or received lists.

He called the carrier and they told him that some apps that he has installed might send SMS messages (he has a lot of candy crush and solitaire type games). He is really worried that one day he will receive a bill for hundreds or even thousands of euros because of this.

Is there a way to see a log of all the messaging activity? Is there a way to block these type of messages sent in the background?

It's not possible for an app to send an SMS without his knowledge. He likely fat fingered an international number without knowing it. All messaging activity is listed in the Messages app. The carrier can also provide the SMS log.

I'd suggest changing his plan to a prepaid plan to limit future charges.

Does he use iMessage? Original activation, at least at one point in the past, would send a single international SMS. However, apparently failures could cause additional messages to be sent.

The phone company should be able to give a list of all outgoing messages and the numbers they were sent to.
