Argh!! this is starting to drive me nuts! When i'm connected via my Dial-up connection...(we still can't get DSL where I live. Yes, I know, It's sad.) But anyway, every 30 minutes when i'm connected to my dial-up, internet connect pops up and says "Would you like to Disconnect or stay Connected" and usually I want to stay connected, but I keep hitting disconnect by accident, so then I have to dial back up (the sound makes me want to die.)

Does anyone know how to turn this "useful" feature off? If you do PLEASE tell me, i'm going to have the message again in like 7 minutes!

Find the dial up modem section. Go to PPP options and you'll seen an option to ask every 30 mins for a connection.

You could always get broadband... ;)

Here's a screen grab of what the others have been talking about. Note that it should be unchecked as shown:

Maybe not.
There's always hope. Sometimes you can get broadband (cable) where DSL doesn't exist.

Ah, hell, maybe I should just read more carefully.

No, I already checked the cable company, i'm house 13388 on my road and they stop at 2...so it's a little bit away right now. Hopefully we will be getting DSL in the new year :)

But yes, that did work...Thank you all muchly.

P.S. - YOu can turn off the modem sound? Ohh..can someone tell me how, or is it in the same place where I just was?

Oh! Nevermind! I found it, now I'm pleased :)

You should be looking around your system to see how it can be changed. You don't have to change anything whilst doing your exploring, though. You might find there are many things that you can do that you thought were impossible. :)
