Why does my internet connection ask me if i want to stay on or dis connect ever 15-30 min? and how do i stop this

Assuming you're using a modem:
Go to <apple menu>->System Preferences...->Network.
On Network panel, select Show: Internal Modem.
Select PPP tab.
Select PPP Options...
See if "Prompt every xx minutes to maintain connection" is checked.
Uncheck it.
