Hi there just purchased a new iMac a few days agoy and seem to be having problems with the internet when i put iMac to sleep. When i go to use it again i have to go into system preferences and network and press connect every time. The internet connections should be on all the time as soon as I awaken it. I think there is something I am not doing right. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Internet disconnects on new iMac when in sleep mode

What connect? If this is a dial-up connection, it is suppossed to disconnect, if PPPoE, turn on the menubar icon (from the preference pane) and I believe there is an option to reconnect when the system wakes from sleep. If you are using a PPPoE connection, I would suggest gettting a router on your connection, that will always keep the connection open, then your iMac would connect as though it was just on a network, with no need to "connect".

Well if you have to use a connect protocall, you are using PPPoE (your network preference pane would contain a user name and password). Your first action would be to "display network status on the menubar" that would allow you to reconnect anywhere, and might contain the reconnect option. The second thing you should do is get a cheap router, which will make the PPPoE connection to your ISP, then will use a DHCP server to serve you iMac an Internet Connection all the time.
