After OSX software update, IE does not load. I continue to get the beach ball. I can only get out with force quit. I reinstalled IE from the MS website, but still does not work. Any ideas? It would not be a problem except one of the bills I pay can only be done with IE.

Hmm... Mine loaded just fine then. I noticed that the update screwed with a lot of permissions on my iBook (less on the iMac) so maybe repair permissions and if that doesn't work, do the usual deleting of permissions. :)

Same problem here. Luckily I don't use IE, but this is going to be a problem for some people. I wonder if MS and/or Apple will release a fix. Doesn't seem too likely.

Mine seemed to load fine, and in fact I had already typed a response stating that it was working fine when I realized that it wasn't working fine. The window comes up, and for a while it looks like it's OK with the status bar talking about loading the page, but it never loads. Just starts beachballing and won't quit.

All right, well it's okay for me to a point but then crashes if I do anything even slightly intensive with it. I can still navigate to most sites though. Weird.

Don't expect a fix from Microsoft anytime soon, IE is completely unsupported (for Mac :p ). :(

I tried repair permissions - no luck. IE still doesn't work. Since others have the same problem, I guess it is a new bug.

Try this (worked for me):

1. Launch Explorer and VERY QUICKLY click the Stop button.
2. Go to Preferences and change the home page to something OTHER than www.msn.com. (I used www.msnbc.com as my new home page.)
3. Then, go to the home page.

This seems to have resolved the problem here.

That fixed it for me too. I'm posting this message using IE 5.2.3 under 10.4.3.

It worked for me too, after I finally got to the stop button fast enough. Thanks.

I tried 10 times, and couldn't do it - not fast enough. My wife's account (she prefers IE) was set to a different home page and so she's fine. Maybe I'll try unplugging the modem and do it.
