Just so you know, you're about to get bombarded with posts letting you know that IE is obselete and you'll be much better off using Safari or Firefox. IE hasn't been updated in a long time. You may know that already, but just in case...

yea ie mabe old but there is one for os x i think the version is 5.2.2 yea there is some qurks about it. i run mac os 9.2.2 and so far there is only a few things that ie 5.1.7 wont do like some security stuff but most of it works sept for a few thing. also i use icab it goes places that ie wont i use it if i run into a site that has a beef with ie for mac but icab is slow as hell loading a page and i have dsl and i cab loads pages slower than dialup. netscape is a turd i dont like it most pages dont even load up right and its slow as hell alitle faster than icab but if no page loads right then what good is it. i have to surf with ie cause its faster than the 2 that i have and i have less trouble out of it sept a few thing like one security beef with ie and a few gfx glitches like a button not being on the page where its supost to be or text not being where its suppose to be but thats very few sites tho.

all that i can say is find ie for mac os x and dl it and try it

Yes, by why would you want to use it? There is nothing that Safari, Firefox, Camino, etc. can't do 10x better than IE in my opinion....

I mostly agree with the IE for Mac opinions expressed in this thread, but I do keep a copy on my Macs. Sometimes I run into a site that neither Safari or Firefox will work with, and in those cases I fire up IE and it usually works. That said, for day to day browsing, there's no reason to use IE (on Windows or Mac), and Safari is a much better browser.

i use to own a pc till it got hit by lighting i had almost every web browser for xp pro and nothing comes close to ie on windows os .btw ie on a windows platform if u got every thing set up right u cant hang with it its to fast and supports every thing under the sun every thing else is junk on a windows plat. but on a mac yea ie is not the same i used to use a pc ie on a mac is no compairason to the pc version since i got dsl every site i want gets there in a snap no waiting at all as soon as i hit enter im there but on mac i have to wait about 1 second for it to come up and its just not the same. but the version of mac os iu have its the best option i have sept for a few ocasions when i have to wait for a page to load up in icab only if microsoft still supported ie on mac then it wouldent be bashed it prolly be the most used browser for the mac cause it would be faster and supports more stuff than any other browser that if they did still support it but they dont and i dunno y they dont pick up the project and start new cause if they did it would be the best and u all would know this.

sorry if my grammer is sloppy i had a few big swigs of wiskey

Now, I don't get how nobody has explained this guy how sh*t IE is :D.
Sorry, but this thread is no sense from the information point of view, I feel it was created just to let the flames run.

I need to use it for example because in my work network we use Windows SBS 2003 and the server permits access to functions in the intranet only through IE.

Problem is IE on the mac is so old and outdated that even the windows servers wont let me use most of the access because they detect its oldness and out of security wont let me use their services online... :(

because some sites simply don't work with safari whereas they will with IE.....it's not an uncommon problem
