I have been using different Macintosh browsers and different machines and different routers/carriers

but all with the same OSX, is this enough to avoid fingerprint matching?

I suspect all browsers disclose the Mac OSX version which would be a common denominator.

You can run, but you can't hide. It's an arms race between browser privacy features and internet ad fingerprinting technology innovation. Best of luck. ;-)

AdGuard for Mac will provide some protection from unwanted fingerprinting.
"AdGuard prevents the most popular fingerprinting libraries from running. Besides, to use a fingerprint you need to send it somewhere. AdGuard blocks known tracking domains — this means that it will be impossible to send your fingerprint to the servers and use it for targeting."

Not all fingerprinting is bad. "Preventing fraud still remains one of its top uses."

Both quotes are from https://adguard.com/en/blog/browser-fingerprinting-gpu.html

With regards specifically to the macOS version, some browsers stopped reporting the OS version in the User Agent string (a string of text the browser uses to signal to websites what browser it is) after Catalina to help reduce fingerprinting.

I'm not sure if Chrome / Edge etc. all do this yet.

There may also be more sneaky / nefarious ways for websites to fingerprint you, but I'll leave that for clever folks than me to share.

I thought this would tell but it does not seem to work with Chrome-
