I was wondering if anybody has been able to listen to an audio stream from a radio station's website on the iPhone using the Safari browser.

One thing that intrigues me if I can could say while at lunch and using a restaurant's wi-fi listen to an audio stream...

I've been trying real hard, but no luck yet. I'm not sure if the Quicktime on the iPhone supports the same protocols as a normal Quicktime. I still need to test using a Quicktime server (rare since most are MP3).

This is one feature I really hope they try to add. This and podcasts that stream directly from the iPhone with no computer at all. I never listen to them at home but when I'm out on the road wanting something to do they come in handy... but I never have any!

You can play mp3s files directly from Safari. So if you go to a site that has direct links to its podcasts, then it will work.

Update: Actually, I just realized Safari comes with a great RSS reader, so just bookmark your Podcast URL and you're set to go.

Nice idea but that would eat up battery life too quickly.
So no internet radio please :)

Other phones can do it, and I rather have a feature and not use it when worried about battery.
