Internet recovery mode and Yosemite clean install

Hello all. I decided to do a clean format and install of my MacBook Pro Retina late 2013. I was running Yosemite prior to this which was upgraded from Mavericks which came with my system.

The issue I'm having is this. After booting into IRM, I formatted the Macintosh HD volume repartitioned it with th same name. But when I go to reinstall the OS the Mavericks download screen pops up instead of Yosemite. I saw someone mentioning in another thread that Internet recovery mode defaults to downloading and installing the version of OS that came with your system. Is this correct? If so is there any way to change this behavior?

I know I could basically reinstall Mavericks and "upgrade" right after through the App Store. But I was trying to accomplish a true clean install of Yosemite and want to avoid having to go through Mavericks and upgrading. Any ideas? Am I missing a step here?

Easy enough....
You have upgraded to Yosemite, so your App Store will show it in the list of Purchases.
Download the Yosemite installer through your App Store.
Don't install it. Create a bootable partition on an external hard drive, or a USB thumb drive, for the Yosemite installer, using the tips from various sites for how you can do that - or download DiskmakerX, which makes that task simple.
Boot to your new Yosemite installer, erase your hard drive, and install Yosmite on your now-clean drive....

This is correct and there is no way to change it. Internet recovery will always install the OS version that came from the factory.

You will need to do what DeltaMac described in his post.

Just for next time... since you already had Yosemite on there you could have just command-r booted to the local recovery partition and erased Macintosh HD then reinstalled and you would have had a clean install of Yosemite. By using Internet recovery you bypassed the local Yosemite recovery partition and ended up with Mavericks.
