Anyone who has any idea to fix this?

Usually, I have no problems tethering my iPhone connection with my Macbook Air, and then sharing it further with the Sharing option on my Mac.

I just upgraded to Yosemite.

Internet Sharing worked both on Mountain Lion (default OS) and Mavericks (upgrade last year)

Hey

I am so glad I read your post...I thought I was the only one.

I have the exact same problem, I already tried deleting all my System preferences, renaming the connection, resetting the password, choosing different sharing options...nothing works. :(

I was just about to write a post for some advice.

cheers

I am sharing internet to a NAS drive and I noticed when I upgraded to Yosemite the Ethernet share tick defaulted it to off, by turning it back on after the upgrade everything works.

I have also tried using Ethernet sharing, or Bluetooth sharing and both don't work...I think I checked/unchecked everything a 100 times... :(

Btw: I have this issue on both my 2012 iMac and my 2009 MBP. This is the only reason why I do not upgrade my rMBP to 10.10

I thought that would help too, but it doesn't in this case. Refer to screenshot in the original thread. :(

I was able to chat with an Apple Customer Service Representative about this issue.

The Internet Sharing Problem is said to get fixed with the release of iOS 8.1. (I don't know why this problem caused by upgrading to OSX Yosemite has anything to do with the OS on the iPhone, but that's what the CX Rep said)

Good to hear that! #
I also have incredibly annoying WIFI issues at work with the connection dropping every few minutes. Also here I can find a lot of posts on the web, so I hope Apple will fix this in 10.10.1 soon!

I just hope that I can get my sharing back today with 8.1
cheers

Sharing is still not working with 8.1 Well it was a long shot anyway to think that something on iOS would fix an issue on the Mac side...

Same here. I really thought this would be it.

I emphasized and made it clear that we're on the same page, and that he isn't referring to iOS 8.1 "Instant Hotspot" feature... (which he said, he wasn't referring to)

But now it looks like a.) he had no idea what he was talking about b.) he just left me hanging with an empty promise to get me off his back since our chat lasted over 30 minutes with all the troubleshooting

Nonetheless, this is the first time that I'm truly disappointed about updates from Apple...

Well, I was actually always disappointed from an initial release so far (with the exception of 10.6). I always say to myself to at least wait a month before updating but I can never resist. Well...they'll push 10.10.1 in a few weeks I hope. Until then I will have to find another solution I guess. ;)

Ok, so now my temp solution looks like this:

I did a clean install of Mavericks on my old 2009 MBP for which the sharing from the iPad works now...

I then share the iPad connection via LAN to my Yosemite iMac and on this one I create the WiFi network for all other devices. I can't use my old MBP directly to create WiFi because its just too slow in the whole apartment.

This is somewhat ridiculous because I need three devices to get my WiFi to work...

anyway, I think it is very interesting that my 10.10 iMac can share an incoming Ethernet connection via WiFi, but can't do it if Internet is coming from the iPad directly...

My iPhone 4S (8.1), happily tethers several devices as it always has, why do you need to share the tethered connection from the Mac, just connect those devices direct to the iPhone.

Because if I use the network directly from my iPad I have extremely poor performance from Computer-to-Computer (I can't stream my iTunes library for instance) and also if I move more than 5 meters, I don't have WiFi at all. ;)

Ah I see, thanks for clarifying.
