Ok so I live in a Residence Hall at my college that recently changed their internet or something. The email saying they were going to change it said that a 802.1x window should open and to just type in my username and password but that window never showed up. I dont completely remember if I did that or not but whenever I try to set up Internet Sharing, my mac says "Your Internet connection cannot be shared because it is protected by 802.1X." Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Bump, have any solutions?
For both you and your friend from 18 months ago, I fail to see the problem. I'd bet dollars to donuts that the Internet login will appear when you launch your browser. If your Mac has Wi-Fi--and most do--then it is a trivial matter to turn your Mac into a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The problem for me wasnt connecting to the network, my Mac connects fine, I wanted to share my network via the system preferences. Yet when I try I get the error message, your internet connection cannot be shared because it is protected by 802.1X" . I'm looking for a way around this, or maybe a third party Internet sharing program .
