Okay, here's my problem: I have an old iMac with an ADSL connection taking up the 1 ethernet port, so I occasionally network it with my iBook over Firewire for internet sharing (both are running 10.3.3). The problem is, every time I want to get a network connection of any sort between the two, I have to stop internet sharing on the iMac and start it again; I can't just plug in and network the two like I can over ethernet.

Does anyone have any suggestions? It's really inconvenient to do this every time, especially if someone else is using the iMac... I really wish the iMac came with another ethernet port.

Yeah, a wireless network is totally out of the question ($$).. the only reason I'm doing this over Firewire is because I only do it occasionally, and if I can get this problem worked out I don't even need to buy a cheap router for my needs.
