I have the following set up

networkstatus1.png

network.png

Mac1 is connected to the internet through a belkin ethernet dongle and I am able to control from Mac1 all the other Macs using Apple Remote Desktop

Now I would like to share the internet connection from Mac1 to all the other Macs

If I try to use internet sharing like the picture below I am not able to connect to any of of the Macs using Apple Remote Desktop

how can I share the internet connection from Mac1 to all the other Macs and still connect to them using Apple Remote Desktop ?

on the land line mr. smith.
Is there a reason you don't connect the switch directly to the router?

Standard routing would put all the computers on the same subnet....which would likely solve all your internet and ARD issues, not to mention make everything easier (printers, file sharing, etc.)

right now Mac2 Mac3 and Mac4 are configured with static IPs 10.0.0.101 - 10.0.0.102 - 10.0.0.103
and Mac1 is configured on the ethernet port with 10.0.0.100 and all Macs have as router 10.0.0.1

Mac1 on the ethernet dongle port is configured as DHCP and has a public IP of 88.10.2.26

if I connect the router directly to the switch and all the Macs to it, will Mac1 get the public IP of 88.10.2.26 ?

I would need at least one Mac with a public IP so I can connect to it using apple remote desktop from the outside world

I agree with the last couple posts. It would be ideal (and more secure) to have all your Macs behind the router or switch, and then use port forwarding to access the individual Macs via Remote Desktop. The guide below explains it a little bit. (Can always google something like ‘Apple remote desktop port forwarding’ for more info.)
