Just picked up a 24" iMac on clearance and the Internet seems to hang up and just be a bit slower in general compared to my 4yr old MBP. I can't really get a cable to it so I'm using a Belkin N1 router. Is there anything I can do to see if it's the router or possibly the iMac?

Why cant you get a cable to it? Is it because you are too far away from the router?

how many bars are black and gray on your Airport icon in the menubar? (top- right)

Is your router set to "mixed mode" for 802.11b/g/n...? I am reading "n" is not so good on that router

If you are that far away from the router then you need a wireless repeater.

IDK, you where pretty vague on how your home network is set up..:(

I'm not real sure what it's set on but there's no options on the router it's self.. Is that something that's selected through the computer? I can't get a cable to it cause I don't want to drill holes in the floor or something(120year old house) and it would just look real bad having a 30ft cable running down the hall.. I regularly have full bars or one less then full which is the same as the mbp.. It's just a tad slower though.
