Any way i can boost up my connection speed with any program?
My computer doesn't seem to want to pick up too much of bandwith unless i'm surfing the net...i'm constantly downloading stuffs and the speed of these downloads seems very very slow when i just leave it wihtout doing anything...

I really doubt it. What speed is your connection rated at? Have you talked to your ISP about the speed issue? And how does the Mac connect to the internet? Is it on a wireless network and if so is the reception pretty bad?

If you have cable, you may be have a lot of cable users in your area. If you have DSL, you may be far from the central office. Might be time to look for a new ISP.

PS. You can edit your posts and add the extra info to keep threads shorter. You don't have to add a new post just minutes after the pervious one. Especially when no one else posted.

This link will give you Cnets internet benchmark.
Run it with Safri IE5 and FireFox.

Run it a few times with each of the browsers and figure out the avrage DSL speed for each of them. (I know that browsers don't affect the speed of an external digital line, I am just trying to create a baseline.)

Now, if the load time is about the same for all three browsers, then your DSL line has issues. Trouble shoot with them and let them know that you have done all the normal trouble shooting, power cyceling the modem and the router, computer etc...

Who's your ISP, and what kind of service are you supposed to be getting? That looks pretty slow for broadband.

Are you going through a router (perhaps it's not set up correctly)?

Cable or DSL? Have you tried power-cycling your equipment?

An ISP Called TmNet...512k download speed is what i should get and 256k Upload...i'm not concern about upload, just the download speed...and btw, am i getting 512k download speeds based on the test?
And yeah, i'm using a router...DLink router...its not a wireless network btw...

Looks pretty good to me...417 isn't that far off from 512. You just have really slow DSL.

That download speed looks about right i have a 1.5MBps connection and it typically downloads at 160-170KB/s just remember a 512KB connection does not mean 512KB download speed, somebody will explain it better, i'm not a technocrat
