So, I usually just leave my iMac (specs below) running all the time, but when I went out of town over the weekend I decided to shut it down. When I came back and turned it on Sunday night it seemed a little sluggish, and sure enough I just ran a speed test and I'm moving WAY slower than I used to be.

I usually get close to 3Mbps but now I'm only getting less than 600 kbps download, but ironically my upload is still about the same (~500kbps). My Powerbook G4 got over 2 Mbps download, so I know it's not my ISP.

I'm connected via my Airport Extreme card and I've rebooted several times and turned Airport off/on. Any ideas what I can do to get it back up to normal?

Thanks

did you also reset your DSL/Cable modem?

Okay, so I figured it out, and your post helped me get on the right track. I have an Airport Extreme Base Station as my main router, and an Airport Express extending the network (probably should have mentioned that before). The iMac was getting the signal from the Express (which must have happened after the restart Sunday), which for some reason was a lot slower, even though it is closer to the Extreme.

I restarted the Express, which forced the iMac to switch back to the Extreme, and the Internet was tested at 2.6 Mbps download. I then took my Powerbook into the other room and opened it up right next to the Express, and got a 500 kbps download test result.

So...obviously the Express is the issue. Any ideas why it might be so much slower? I don't really understand how it works to extend my network, so any tips will help a lot. For instance, should the Channel listed under both the Extreme and the Express be the same, or should they be different?

Thanks
