Interrupted encryption EHD

Hi, I'm encrypting an EHD and need to interrupt it for a while to use the computer (running updated Big Sur) for other purposes. I have another Mac running Catalina. Is it possible to keep encrypting the drive with the second computer?

I haven't tested it, but I'm 100% sure that you cannot do that. Interrupting such processes is never a good idea. Wait it out, work on the other Mac. Or on this one. I know encryption might take a lot of CPU power, but you can still use the computer.

Hi, in official Apple docs it says the interruption is not the problem, but it's not mentioned if it should be done with the same computer. ?
