Intuit releases OS X QuickBooks beta to testers

Tester sources confirmed to Think Secret that software developer Intuit recently seeded a beta release of QuickBooks Pro Edition 5.0. The new version, expected to ship in early 2003, will bring Mac OS X compatibility to the leading small business accounting software.
A company representative confirmed that the company has released a beta of the Mac version and is actively testing it.
In August, the company announced a "multi-year plan" for supporting an OS X version of QuickBooks. The software's last Mac release, version 4.0, took place in 1998, but the company now plans to ship a new version yearly.
QuickBooks Pro Edition 5.0 will also support Mac OS 9.

I am not a big fan of quickbooks due to my experiance with the PC product. However, this is pretty cool. I would switch all my books to quickbooks if the Mac and PC version could work on the same file simultaneously. It can be done. If you are listening Intuit, please make it happen!!!!!

I can't imagine they've done anything new with it--just Carbon-izing. It would take quite a bit of time to bring it up to date with the latest Windows version. Since Carbon-izing takes them forever (where's MacInTax?), I would think it would be just that.

I seem to remember QuickBooks v4.0 while I was still in Philadelphia and that was 1996, not 1998. Perhaps, my history is off though. Software Etc. was clearing them out at the time. There was also a year 2000 compatibility patch.
