Hi All

Just ordered AirPods from Amazon UK (sold and distributed by amazon, so no 3rd party). The serial number listed on my order comes up as invalid serial on the Apple "check service coverage" site.

Does this only work after you've configured/paired the AirPods, or should it show up now? Concerned they may be fake, so considering refusing to accept delivery.

Thanks.

I think sometimes doesn’t show until activated as you say.

I would setup and then check after a few hours. If not then sure Amazon will be ok to return if you say are fake. Don’t think will be immediately updated though so would wait a bit for sever to sync or update etc.

Just to close off this thread, it appears that Amazon add characters to the beginning of the serial number when showing it on the order. The serial on the box was correct when removing the additional amazon characters

So does it come up on Apple site now as 12 months warranty etc?

If bought and sold by Amazon then pretty confident that would be ok

Also - different retailers behave differently with serials. Some have an agreement with Apple where they register the serial when it ships. Others register them when they are shipped to the retailer.
