Is there any way to leave a space in the springboard? I would like to leave the middle two in the bottom row empty.

There have been several threads here on that subject.

However, I'll tell you the answer. The easiest way is to install Blanks from Cydia.

You can also create icons for any app or webclip that you would like to be there, just invisible. Use any existing icon as a template, make it one solid color, and make that color transparent. Rename the icon to match the app or webclip. Turn off icon labels to make it truly hidden.

Thanks, I have searched through cydia with no luck. Is it called something else or is it "blanks"?

If you are still using a black background I have created a web page that will create a "blank" icon using the "add to home screen" feature. If you want I could try using a transparent icon instead, but I would need someone to make the icon file for me as I lack the software to do so. It needs to be a PNG file. The address ishttp://blankspace.zendfree.com.

Actually, I've already created one with transparency. You can have it, if you want it.

You can either rename it to match the application or web clip that you are trying to make blank, and drop it into a theme's icon folder, or you can simply drop it into the folder as is, create a web clip, and name the web clip, "Blank."

@ thebez-- I would be very interested to see what you can accomplish using this. It would be very convenient to not have to use SSH whenever you get the idea to do this. :)

Thank you thebez. That works well.

Theconfuzed1, how do I add new repositories? I only have the ones that were included with the cydia program. Are there any others that should be installed and are they trusted sources that can safely be downloaded from?
Thanks for the help.

Just make sure the webclip your using doesn't automatically load an "icon.png" everytime you visit the site. If it does you have to modify the info.plist and delete the string that has the icon.png reference.

From Cydia, click on "Sections," at the bottom of the screen.

From there, go to "Repositories," and add just as you would any Cydia app.

Otherwise, there are other repositories that are not listed here. You can find these sources listed in different places online. In this case, click on "Manage" at the bottom.

Then go to Sources--> Edit--> Add--> Enter your source URL.
