I just bought the 250gb Iomega desktop Hard drive. The package was labelled "PC/Mac", "Software included" and "Touch-Free backup." When I reformatted the disk with the Mac utility, setup and ran the included Iomega Automatic Backup software, I found that a number of chosen files and folders were not backed up to the destination disk.

I went to Iomega's live-chat support and was told that the software only works (properly) with 10.2.7 or lower and they don't provide any alternative.

This seems pretty absurd. I specifically chose this drive over cheaper alternatives because of the Mac-friendly labelling. The Systems Requirements on the box were listed as "Requires Mac OS X or above" not as "10.2.X or earlier". Don't they have any further obligation?

Have you checked their downloads/updates section ? Perhaps the chatter clown did not know their a*s from a hole in the ground :D

Otherwise, contact them directly and offer to have your lawyer call them about their incorrect/misleading verbage on the box......

I have had a few more exchanges with Iomega's customer support. All I got was:

"I am very sorry to hear that you displeased with needing to purchase a different backup software to use with the version of the Mac OS that you have.

Are there any other problems that we might be able to assist you with?"

after iomega's experience with zip and jazz products. return this thing if you can and buy something reliable.

i would never give iomega a penny of my easily or hard earned money as their zip disks were GARBAGE the drives were terrible and so many people lost data. (KMFDM lost an album that was finished due to iomega products)...
