iPhone OS 10.1 Developer Beta 1
Build Number: 14B55c
Darwin Kernel Version: 16.1.0; Fri Sep 16 03:53:22 PDT 2016; root:xnu 3789.20.46~54\/RELEASE_ARM64
Firmware Version: iBoot-3406.20.16
PC iTunes: DFU Restore possible with IPSW without the prerequisite of XCODE 8.1 beta.

Release notes:

Please report bugs to bugreport.apple.com (a developer account is not required to do this).
Please only post new bugs, changes and bug fixes in the appropriate categories and subsections of this post.

Changes:
  • Adds Portrait feature in beta for iPhone 7 Plus.
  • Improved raise-to-wake (When you interact with the screen after raise to wake, the timeout is extended and the motion to put the phone down no longer turns off the screen immediately. If you don't interact with the screen after raise to wake, then the behavior is the same as before.)
  • New option added when the 'Reduce Motion' setting in Accessibility is enabled: Auto-play Message Effects (It appears to change nothing in message effects playback, however.)
  • Modem Firmware: 2.35.00 (iPhone 6s Plus)
  • What's New in Messages Splash Screen added.
  • There seems to be some sort of Bluetooth extender over Wi-Fi for HomeKit devices. (This can be tested by turning off Bluetooth on one of the iOS or tvOS devices running the latest beta software.)
  • Sounds of all types are significantly low. (Ringtones/Video/Audio/Calls Cellular/VoIP are significantly low in volume).
  • Stock camera image quality has been significantly improved for low light shots. (iPhone 6s Plus)
  • Battery Charging Algorithm has been significantly changed. First 70% is slower, 71-93% is fast and 94-100% is the slowest. (Tested with DFU restored iPhone 6s Plus with offline mode enabled).
Bugs (new bugs or bugs continued from iOS 10.0):
  • Video progress bar/scrubber seems to be broken in some apps (like Alien Blue for example) (http://i.imgur.com/dZGBoQk.jpg)
  • Display Brightness Gliches if Live Photo is set as Wallpaper upon every back to home.
  • On iPhones, tapping on the App icon in App->Updates previously navigated to the App's main page (at least after expanding the update text), but since the GM, this has been broken (the menu bar loader icon spins, but nothing happens). This could be a server-side bug (as it initially worked in the GM before server-side updates), but let's keep a watch on this.
  • Keyboard cursor bug on iPad when in landscape mode in a spotlight search. This strange cursor behaviour is evident when ddoing a 2-finger keyboard cursor gesture to move the cursor left/right in the search box. It works fine in portrait, but the x/y coordinates don't seem to switch correctly, meaning the swiping two finders up and down in required for left/right movement. This bug exists in the 10.0.1 GM.
  • Stock Camera Video doesn't brighten if the brightness slider is swiped upwards.
  • Highlights bug is still there in Stock Photos app.
  • iPhone Charging is slower or somewhat not progressing while iPhone tends to heat up. Workaround: Hard Reset iPhone.
  • Hard Reset display glitch.
  • Stock Camera Flash Disabled bug.
  • Wrong EXIF-data for photos taken with the tele lens (iPhone 7 Plus)
  • WIFI stops routing traffic but shows connected. quick toggle off/on resolves is temporarily.
  • 4G/LTE connectivity is not available most of the time and cellular connection keeps on 2G reception. (iPhone 6s Plus)
  • Apps updating blue circle appears with no progress showing in Updates, while on home screen app is showing its downloading progress normally.
  • Orientation for spotlight search on iPad Pro is incorrect. Occasionally, the iPad's spotlight search will setup the virtual keyboard or Smart Keyboard settings for vertical viewing when the iPad is horizontal or vice versa. The workaround is to exit spotlight search and just change the iPad orientation prior to opening search again.
  • Lags while scrolling in multitasking pain
  • Delay while turning on cellular data in setting. In fact the phone stop working for a few seconds
Bug Fixes:
  • Barometric pressure data from CMAltimeter is now reported on iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, and iPad Pro.
  • Lightning headphone controls now keep functioning after music is paused for an extended period of time (usually over 5 minutes).
Things to Watch For:
  • Any change on iPhone 7/7+ app closing animations? Still the same.
  • Is Group Notifications back? No
  • Voicemail transcription requires a 6s or later: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207181
  • Is it possible to uninstall Apple music app and just use third party apps like Marvis to play local music? Stock Apps Icons are deleted not the app itself, so use any third party app on your own discretion for the same functionality.

No new wallpapers and Portrait (Beta) is added in Camera

Under Settings > Photos and Camera, you also have a "Keep normal photo" switch for Portrait mode.

Any word on this fixing the oft-discussed "No Service" issues reported recently?
My AT&T carrier version has been updated to 25.5

On 10.0.1, carrier version was 25.0 for AT&T. Also, I was never really affected by the No Service issue. It'll take a day to see how signal is affected.

Thanks! I hadn't planned on playing the beta game this time around but some weak reception at work recently has me concerned...especially since my iPhone 6 was never an issue in the same location.

Wouldn't have anything at all to do with the software version on the phone.

Did you not just read the 3 posts above yours? 10.0.1 was AT&T 25.0. 10.1 is AT&T 25.5. It has everything to do with the software version of the phone. When beta updates are seeded, they seed newer carrier versions for testing as well.

Guess there's nothing new except the Bokeh feature, otherwise the forum would've been flooded with changes.
