Hi all i am new to the forum so i hope this is in the right area.

Since updating to ios 10.2.1 i have noticed that my messages are being marked as read when i clear the notification on my lock screen.

This never happened before and i've missed messages because there is now no button on the app or unread when i open the app.

Has anyone else had this issue?
Ive done everything possible to troubleshoot this other than reverting to ios 10.2.0
I am also not sure how to get this info to apple to make sure they fix it in the next ios update

Thank you

I never had it happen until the latest update. Even apple say clearing it should not read it

Yours has an issue then. Apple have said it's not meant to do that.
And it hasn't done that for me ever before.
I'm talking to them at the moment to hopefully get it fixed

It's not meant to be according to Apple. Guess i have been lucky with it until now

Could be some bug Apple themselves haven't even noticed.
The irony is that some apps have notifications that when cleared doesn't clear the badges (YouTube, for instance), and you actually have to open the app and quit it just to get rid of the badges.

It's so hard to get this kind of info to apple i find.
Their staff just tell u the same cookie cutter things "turn it off and on again"
And yesterday i was put on hold 8 times by their "genius" help and then referred to management because i knew more than he did
[doublepost=1485967249][/doublepost]So just heard from apple
Apparently this is a new implementation because they thought it would help people by marking as read when you clear (I'm laughing so hard)

I am starting to wonder if apple really think about their customers at all any more.

Might have to do with preview being enabled and basically whether or not you could read the message that was sent just from the notification.

Possibly
But last week i had no issue
Its only since the update. Before it just cleared the notification and left it unread even with preview on

Just tried it with previews disabled and it still treated it as if I read it when I used the "clear" option, which doesn't make much sense given that I couldn't read it at all.

Using the "x" to dismiss essentially all notifications doesn't mark messages as read though

Doesn't really seem like a new implementation as it marks messages without preview as read, which couldn't have been read at all. And it's certainly not consistent even given that dismissing one way marks it as read but another way doesn't. Seems more like a bug of some sort.

Has it been sorted out in the latest beta or public release.
